Katpana Desert (Cold Desert), Skardu

katpana desert also called Cold Desert which is located in skardu, the capital of Gilgit Baltistan. The largest portion of katpana desert lies in Gilgit and Shigar valleys. It is the world's highest cold desert which is located at 14000 ft. above sea level. White sand plays a major role in it's beauty which is due to the sand and snow-capped mountains.

It is not simply a desert but the mountains all around that are covered by snow. For the convenience of tourists, a nearby located hotel named as Hargissa Hut and by their means of transport you can easily directly go to the hotel from airport. Desert is situated at approximately 30 minutes away from airport. You will also see brush plants over there as well as birds that include hawks and eagles.
